Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill vacant posts tenable at, Mulago National Referral Hospital and Ministry of Works and Transport - East African Civil Aviation Academy (EACAA) - Soroti. Applications should be filled in triplicate on PS Form 3 (Revised 2008) and submitted to the Secretary, Health Service Commission at Plot No.1 Pilkington Road, Workers House, 3rd Floor (Northern Wing) or through P.O. Box 7452, Kampala; to be received not later than 17th March, 2017.

Applicants should access the details of each post including person and job specifications, on the Commission's website. The advert will also be available in the mentioned Institutions.


Applicants should strictly adhere to the following requirements to avoid disqualification:


  1. Complete all parts of the application form (PSF 3, Revised 2008) and submit three (3) copies. Each applicant should apply for only one (1) vacancy.


  1. On each application form the following must be attached;

  1. Recent and original passport size photograph.

  2. Copies of the academic and professional certificates.

  3. Evidence of training in specialized area where applicable

  4. Copies of letters of appointment, plus confirmation letters as it may apply.

  5. Copies of Registration Certificates and valid Practicing Licenses for Health Workers who are required by law to register with the relevant Professional Councils.

  6. Copy of National and current Institutional Identification Card.


  1. It is emphasized that:

  1. All application forms must bear the name of the Institution, title of the post and its reference number.

  2. Applicants must state clearly on the application forms their contact addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses.

  3. Applicants who are serving Officers must route their applications through their Heads of Department, or Heads of Institution where applicable.

  4. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Receive patients, register admissions and discharges.

  2. Participate in a continuous nursing coverage on Wards/Units by receiving reports and effectively handing over to in-coming shift.

  3. Provide comprehensive care to mothers during pregnancy with emphasis on identifying high risk cases and refer them to Doctors.

  4. Ensure that aseptic techniques are adhered to in carrying out deliveries.

  5. Provide comprehensive care to mothers during labour with emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs and prevention of complication to mothers and babies.

  6. Ensure that the babies’ air passages are clear, assess and keep babies warm constantly, watch the umbilical cords and carry out immunization.

  7. Ensure that the babies are properly labeled with identification tags.

  8. Record births of the newborns.

  9. Participate in Primary Health Care activities.

Qualifications:

A Diploma in Medical Radiography from a recognized Institution.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Receive patients and analyze their X-ray requests.

  2. Prepare X-ray equipment according to requests.

  3. Liaise with Ward management in the preparation of patients for X-rays.

  4. Take X-ray pictures, process X-ray films and prepare reports for the Doctor.

  5. Maintain X-ray equipment.

  3. Advise patients and attendants in the proper use and storage of medicines.

  4. Carry out regular equipment servicing and ensure that they are functional.

  5. Identify and classify drugs and keep stock.

  6. Participate in training of students and other health workers.

  7. Compile reports on drugs usage and submit to the Senior Dispenser.

Laboratory Technologist - 1 Post

Qualifications:

A University Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized University/Institution.



Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Collect, handle and transport specimens to the Laboratory.

  2. Prepare standards and reagents according to established procedures.

  3. Carry out laboratory investigations and submit reports to Clinicians.

  4. Liaise with Ward Management in the preparation of patients for laboratory tests.

  5. Requisition necessary supplies for laboratory work.
